Madi's red cheeks

an email received from Cheryl ...

"Thought I’d give you an update…Mom & Dad no doubt remember how red Madilyn’s cheeks were when they were here visiting a couple weeks ago. Well, we’ve always known that she has had sensitive skin, and we’ve suspected allergies, but there hasn’t been a whole lot we could do about it. For the past 2 weeks, she’s been pretty congested with the same junk, though, and it hasn’t gotten better. Her coughing is making it hard for her to sleep at night. Sooooo….Scott took her to see Carl today and they’re going to go ahead and send her to the allergy clinic to be tested so that we’ll know exactly what it is that she’s reacting to. From what I understand from co-workers, they tend to try and wait until age 3 or 4 to do that, but since Madilyn is eating more foods and obviously reacting to some of them, it will be better for us to know what to avoid.

In order to make sure that insurance pays for it, Carl’s office will submit the request to the allergy clinic and then they’ll call us to make the appointment to do the blood work testing. Just thought I’d let you know the latest in her world!"

Fun, Fun. Poor baby. Unfortunately I have been there. My middle child, Jack has allergies and had the whole blood work thing done. Guess what? It showed he was allergic to NOTHING. Yeah right! So..the doctor told us that blood testing wasnt as accurate (obviously) as skin testing which they would not do on him. (and he is 6!) so..my point is IF she comes back negative for all or even some..DONT GIVE UP! You may habe to do an elimination diet which SUCKS. It's hard. They usually start with all dairy. No dairy for 2 weeks. If no change they will go to NUTS, no nuts for 2weeks and on and on until they find the problem. So..good luck and dont give up! You know your baby and it sounds like you have a good pedi!
