Memorial Day Weekend

As promised, I'm FINALLY uploading all the pictures from our visit to Kansas City over the Memorial Day weekend. A bit of warning, though, Scott and I don't take too many pictures when my mom is around, because she has most events well documented...so I hope you have some extra time to go through them all!

The "big" event for the weekend was a visit to Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. It's such a neat attraction just a few miles from my parents house...and it's free! Even better! Madilyn had a great time!

While at the farmstead, we spent a lot of time with the goats.

They were quite friendly, and a perfect size for Madilyn to play with!

We didn't get any of the bottles to feed the goats,

but Madilyn sure was mesmerized by the kids who did!

We did a lot more petting of the goats :-)

What a sweet little girl!

We tried feeding some of the goats, but Madilyn would get

scared as soon as they tried to take it out of her hands,

so Mommy had to help!

Madilyn was apparently worried that the goats who nibbled

would get her fingers, so she kept them tucked in close!

After a while, they weren't quite so scary, though. She made new friends :-)

It's a good thing Madilyn learned all of her animal sounds...

when she saw the sheep, she knew it said "Bahh!"

We did a lot of walking around the different areas of the homestead.

A few times, Madilyn needed a rest break, so a sippy sup during a

ride in the stroller hit the spot for a little girl!

This picture is a little bit out of order. Whatever the case may be,

the farmstead siloah (sp?) had some pretty tall slides that didn't

intimidate Madilyn one single bit. She went down all by herself!

If you look at the bridge at the top of the slide, you'll see Scott.

Madilyn may have been able to go down by herself, but she couldn't

go up by herself. From that point, there's only one way down,

though, so Scott had to go down the slide, as well! :-)

We didn't stay in this area long, but it was kinda neat to

walk through this Native American area where they had

authentic teepees, tools, and animals.

Scott showed Madilyn all the little sites that

she didn't notice on her own :-)

I just like this sweet little Daddy/Daughter picture. Priceless!

The area where the milking cows were was a lot of fun.

Outside the barn were these chains will all different sizes

of cow bells. Madilyn played quite the tune!

I'm certain she was telling us something

very important about the cow bells!

Did you know that they would even bang together

to make a completely different sound?!

Inside the barn were real live baby calves...

Madilyn was determined to pet them!

Is that the cutest dairy farmer

you've ever seen, or what?!

It's hard to tell, but Madilyn was practicing milking this mechanical cow :-)

Unfortunately, you have to be 3 before you're old enough

for a pony ride, so Madilyn had to settle for a the stationary saddle :-)

Daddy took Madilyn through a playground area,

so she was telling Mommy all about it on the other side!

We saw pretty ducks when we crossed over the pond, too!

You can't convince her that she's too short to drive a tractor!

It really is funny how facinated Madilyn is with anything

that resembles a tractor in her eyes. I think it just started by

Scott taking her for rides on the lawn mower at home!

One of our last stops on the way out was the chicken houses.

If you haven't had the privalege to hear Madilyn say "Bock, Bock"

as she flaps her "wings", it's quite a treat!

After our visit to Deanna Rose, Madilyn ran an errand to the

store with "Gamma". It's no surprise that they went to check out the

toys...and what a surprise that they spotted the section with

Madilyn's favorite character, Elmo!

Every kid needs an embarrassing potty picture, right?!

Well, Madilyn can thank her Grandmother for this one!

We're not potty trained yet, but we're working on it :-)

Luckily Madilyn has grandmothers who will help teach

her to cook since it's not exactly her mommy's specialty!

Scott and my cousin, Kinsey, had a good time together while

we were there. Scott brought both of our bikes with

him so that Kinsey could ride mine.

Our family LOVES board games. One of our most recent

purchases (within the last year or so) has been Sequence.

I honestly couldn't tell you how many hours someone

was at this table playing!

This picture got out of order, as well. It's technically on our way home.

Madilyn's Daddy gave her quite the treat. Unfortunately, she wasn't able

to find out how many licks it took to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop!

Her parents took it away when it was time for dinner!

This is for Uncle Mike's benefit....Madilyn is learning to floss early!

(Technically, I think she just liked the taste of Gamma's

floss, but that's an irrelevant detail!)

How can you NOT laugh at that face?!

Nobody in our family ever expected to see this site...Grandpa is putting

lip gloss on Madilyn! She didn't quite get the concept, though.

She thought you were supposed to lick it off and then get more!

Last but not least, I wanted to share a picture of my multi-tasker!

Every girl is going to have to learn to talk on the phone while

she takes notes - might as well start early! (...and to answer

you're question, YES, I do think she's going to be a leftie!)
